Here is the second part of our interview with the team “virtual tribe”, which focuses on the technical and plan of “virtual tribe”.
- Does the game require a permanent connection to the Internet on mobile?
As it is online, every function in-game requires internet connection. but hey, since it’s only a text-based game, the usage of internet will be pretty small (only 10-15kb per game routine).
The GPS is required? Could we playing in subway and in building?
GPS Bluetooth Receiver is required to play the game. Next release will enable virtual tribe to be played at GPS enabled mobile phone. Unfortunately, GPS signal can’t travel trough thick wall at building or subway. Some functions will be disabled if you are not connected to GPS Device, you can only check your tribe status and world-news
current version of Virtual Tribe was built under NO specific SDK/platform. So it should run stable at ANY j2me enabled mobile phone. If we are success in BETA release and people loves Virtual Tribe, we will develop Virtual Tribe on specifically different platform to reduce compatibility issues
Virtual Tribe is a global game. Everyone in any edges of earth can play the game as long as they are connected to the internet. Current Game Server is Located at Indonesia, so some players in other countries might experience slow response time from the game server. That’s why, spread the world about Virtual Tribe and when it comes big, we’ll consider to have a mirror server at countries with most active players!
